For the past few days since I have been walking around so much, I am getting tired. I’ve been tending to skip the time to eat so I went to Wolseley’s for an English breakfast. This was the place I wanted to go to on the first day. The Wolseley’s is a sophisticated restaurant with a high ceiling and basic decoration done in black. The restaurant was full with many ladies and gentlemen as well as tourists. I was asked to wait at the bar for 20 minutes before I could have a traditional English breakfast. English Breakfast English breakfast at the Wolseley Next, I visit James Lock, the hatter, I wanted to visit. Since it was a high class store, I was very nervous but it was a small but very inviting. There were many hats, walking sticks, bags and clothes in the store. The store clerk helped me pick a hunting cap. Afterwards I showed him my picture book. He looked delighted and I was relieved. Then he showed me around the store and talked to me about its history and its famous clientele. James Lock’s exhibition with a touch of history 「君はこれが似合うよ」と言われて、山高帽をかぶって、写真撮影。 The store clerk handed me a bowler hat and said “You will look good in this.” I put it on and took a photo. I felt like I had become an actor. Looking like a gentleman. In the afternoon, I went the National History Museum and the Science Museum. The building of the National History Museum was a splendid building. There were many dinosaur fossils. I took photos of the fossils of Triceratops and Stegosaurus which appeared in my book. ★トリケラトプスの化石(帽子をかぶっていなくて残念!?)A fossil of Triceratops (I wish it was wearing a cap.) Dinosaurs looking as though they would come to life any minute. The Science Museum was full of industrial goods from the Industrial Revolution. Exhibit of Industrial Revolution items at the Science Museum It took a long time to see everything at the two museums. I was a bit tired but I went next to the Royal Albert Hall, the famous music hall built during the Victorian era. The cymbals used in Alfred Hitchicock’s “ The Man Who Knew Too Much” was most impressive to me. I restrained from singing “Que Sera, Sera” and walked Kensington Road and arrived at Harrods. I shoped at Harrods and then walked around the neighborhood. It was already my fourth day in London and I have come to know the area pretty well. ★つづく・・・ To be continued
